The middle passage was hard and very dangerous for slaves, they would be locked under deck with hundreds of other slaves in such a small area, all of them would share the same food and they wouldn’t even be allowed to go to the toilet, it was the most unsanitary place to be and many died of disease and illness due to the amount of bacteria caused by defecation, vomit, urine and sharing food between everyone from the same bucket

Answer:

Military strength and control of the trade were intertwined. At this time governments restricted which ships could trade with their colonies. Each European power restricted trade within their colony to benefit their own merchants. Conquest of colonies in the Americas led to an increased share of slave trading.

What was one result of the Tariff of 1828?
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

C. It started the Doctrine of Nullification

Explanation:

The trouble began with the <u>Tariff of 1828</u>. The South was afraid the high tariff would hurt their trade with Europe. South Carolina talked about nullifying the tariff. The argument over the <u>"Doctrine of Nullification"</u> was debated in the Senate. Senator Robert Hayne of South Carolina concluded that if a law was harmful to a particular state, it was the right of that state to declare the law null and void. Daniel Webster of Massachusetts argued that only the Supreme Court could declare a law null and void. He ended his speech with this famous quotation: "Liberty and Union now and forever, one and inseparable."
