General Cos ordered the arrest of Lorenzo de Zavala because he helped in framing the constitution of Mexico in 1824.

Manuel Lorenzo Justiniano de Zavala y Sanchez was also known as Lorenzo de Zavala. He was born in 1788 in Yucatan. Zavala was known as a dodged fighter as he was committed to fighting for the oppressed during his lifetime.

When Santa Anna, who was Zavala's former ally, created a centralized regime to oppressed Mexican Federalism, it was Lorenzo de Zavala who weakened Santa Anna's power and he was also the brain behind the Texas revolution.

He was highly instrumental to the Texas cause. He was imprisoned at a young age because he was not in support of the Spanish rule over Mexico.
