The American Revolutionary War battle known as The Capture of Savannah, also known as the First Battle of Savannah (due to the siege of 1779), or the Battle of Brewton Hill, was fought on December 29, 1778, pitting the city's defenders, local American Patriot militia and Continental Army units, against a British invasion force led by Lieutenant Colonel Archibald Campbell.
