Answer:

See the answer below

Explanation:

Cell division is the process by which cells give rise to themselves because new cells can only arise from preexisting cells according to the cell theory.

For both unicellular and multicellular organisms, cell division is important for reproduction. Unicellular organisms can divide by mitosis to asexually reproduce new cells or by meiosis to sexually produce new cells. Mitotic and meiotic cell divisions can also help multicellular organisms to reproduce asexually and sexually respectively.

However, in addition to reproduction, mitotic cell division helps multicellular organisms to grow as well as repair/replace damaged cells/tissues. Through mitosis, more cells are produced leading to elongation, increase in height or weight as the case may be. Mitosis also ensures that damaged or dead cells are replaced by new ones.

The hygroscopic nature of lichen also does not allow them to survive highly polluted environments. This is because they will also absorb the toxins from the atmosphere into their systems. The toxins will then affect their growth, negatively.

Explanation:

Lichen is one pioneer species in primary succession. They have undefined roots hence do not require soil and can grow on rocks and break them down slowly by chemical weathering (using excreted organic acids). More so lichen does not need to absorb nutrient via roots because the organism is a symbiotic relationship between fungi and algae. The algae can use photosynthesis to manufacture food while the fungi complex hyphae that surround the algae can absorb water & nutrients from the air due to their high hygroscopic nature.

Baldness (B) is inherited as X-linked dominant disease. An affected male marries a homozygous recessive female. What is the prob
torisob [31]
This can be solved with Punnett squares. The affected male has the X^{B} y genotype, and the female is homozygous recessive. This means that she does not carry this, and therefore, will have the genotype XᵇXᵇ

While doing this Punnett Square, keep in mind that in order to have the male offspring affected, their genotype has to be X^{B} y

Since there are no X^{B} y, the probability of their male offspring inheriting this disease is 0%

Some insecticides interfere with the removal of acetylcholine from the synaptic cleft. what effect will this have on muscle cont
Natasha2012 [34]
The effect of insecticides will result in prolonged muscle contraction. Acetylcholinesterases are the enzymes that catalyze the breakdown of acetylcholine (Ach) in the synaptic cleft. This normally occurs, after the Ach achieves its effects on its receptors. On the other hand, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors inhibits the acetylcholinesterase enzyme thereby increasing the level and duration of action of the neurotransmitter ACh. Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors are used as insecticides.
