A school is creating class schedules for its students. The students submit their requested courses and then a program will be de

signed to find the optimal schedule for all students.
The school has determined that finding the absolute best schedule cannot be solved in a reasonable time. Instead they have decided to use a simpler algorithm that produces a good but non-optimal schedule in a more reasonable amount of time.

Which principle does this decision best demonstrate?

A. Unreasonable algorithms may sometimes also be undecidable
B. Heuristics can be used to solve some problems for which no reasonable algorithm exists
C. Two algorithms that solve the same problem must also have the same efficiency
D. Approximate solutions are often identical to optimal solutions

Answer:

B. Heuristics can be used to solve some problems for which no reasonable algorithm exists

Explanation:

1. Heuristics is using a more practical method to solving a problem in the not so best solution, just a good enough solution.

When a computer will take unreasonable amounts of time to solve a problem, heuristics can be used to solve it even if it will not give the best solution.

Describe the case of Genie. What happened to her? Why is this case important?Describe the case of Genie. What happened to her? W
slava [35]
Genie is called the wild child because she was unable to advance through development like normal children. She was abused by her parents and locked up in a room where she was never spoken to and unable to play. She didn’t develop the ability to speak and acted as though she was quite younger than she truly was. What’s important about her is that psychologists took advantage of her situation to study whether older children would be able to learn language and how to speak past the crucial period (very early childhood - infancy). She never fully developed because she only began to receive normal social stimulus when she was an older child. She was never able to live on her own because she never developed into a fully functioning adult. Her development was halted by the abuse she suffered as a young child.

Answer:

d. All of the above

Explanation:

A scale can be defined as an ordered numerical or alphabetical sequence that is typically used for taking measurements such as size, weight, height, length, etc. Also, a scale is used in the field of science to assign magnitude to physical activities and natural phenomenons such as an earthquake using the Richter scale.

In Science, there are four (4) main scales of measurement and these includes;

1. Interval scale: data can be arranged in an ordering scheme and subtracting its differences is meaningful. Examples are year, temperature, time etc.

2. Ratio scale: data can be arranged in an ordering scheme and subtracting its differences is meaningful with respect to the value of true zero. Examples are height, price, weight, distance etc.

3. Ordinal scale: data can be arranged in an ordering scheme but subtracting its differences is meaningless or impossible. Examples are happy, sad etc.

4. Nominal scale: it is characterized by data that are non-numerical, comprises of categories, labels or names and can't be arranged in an ordering scheme.

Hence, scales can represent;

a. A range of information.

b. A range of resources.

c. Proportional measurement.
