Halloween is on October 31st meanwhile the Day of the Dead is on November 1-2. Halloween is only one day, while the Day of the Dead lasts two days. Halloween is supposed to be scary, but the Day of the Dead is to celebrate family members who have passed away. There are lots of celebrations on the Day of the Dead and families set up ofrendas to honor their deceased family members. People trick or treat on Halloween and there are many scary things like ghosts, witches, vampires, and goblins.

Halloween focuses upon the grisly or frightening aspects of death and the dead while the Day of the Dead is very much a celebration of their lives, a happy occasion to honor and remember loved ones who have passed on.
