During the Cold War, the United States supported anti-communist dictators who committed human rights abuses and opposed democrat
gladu [14]

Answer:

In certain times, the actual goal of the United States is countering a certain issue and want to get as much support in this “fight”, even if said support may not stand for the same “ideals” the United States supposedly stands for.

Explanation:

When the country wants to tackle a certain issue (for example, communism), they usually look for support in leaders that want to tackle this issue as well, hoping to get more fuel for this fight, yet they tend to make blind eyes to the other crimes that support may be doing.

Do the events surrounding the Election of 2000 justify changes to the Electoral College? Explain why it does or why it does not
docker41 [41]

No Gore did not win a mandate in 2000. He had only 48% of the popular vote which is not considered as a victory. He also lost many critical states which meant that he was not qualified to be president. Clinton failed to have a majority vote in 1992. However, he did win a plurality of the states and was suited to be president per the Electoral College.

Which action did reformer miguel Trujillo take to expand civil rights
avanturin [10]

Answer:

When Miguel Trujillo, from Isleta Pueblo and a veteran of the Marine Corps during World War II, went to register to vote, he was told by the county registrar, Eloy Garley, that he could not register since he was an Indian living on a reservation.Trujillo was incensed. He brought suit against the county registrar and won. (Trujillo v. Garley) Felix Cohen, who had written the definitive book on Indian law, the Handbook of Federal Indian Law, was Trujillo’s attorney. Finally, in 1948, Indians in New Mexico could vote for the first time. Trujillo and Cohen became friends and worked on other issues of civil rights in New Mexico and in the South. The case also debunked the myth that Indians did not pay taxes. The only taxes Indians did not pay, the court said, was taxes on the land the government held in trust for them. They had to pay sales taxes, income taxes, and all other taxes.

How was the fight for voting rights during the Civil Rights movement a continuation of the fight from reconstruction?
dybincka [34]

Answer:

Because people during the reconstruction were fighting due to slavery (the civil war) or the rights of african americans. The civil right movement was like a continuation or amendment of that reconstruction era to guarantee people of all races the same rights and abolish racial segregation; this actually never came to light when slavery was abolished and the reconstruction era ended.
