"Harlem" and "The Weary Blues" are two poems written by American poet and novelist Langston Hughes. While both poems have the same theme being sorrow and melancholy, there s a difference between them and is the fact that "Harlem" conveys resentment while "The Weary blues" conveys expression.

In "Harlem" the resentment is represented by the subject of racism and how the "American dream" is not for everyone after all. In "The Weary Blues" Hughes uses symbolism and metaphors to describe how life is for a black man, through the Blues music style, which is related to melancholy and feeling deeply.
