Since this could not happen in reality at that time, it was the wish of the author give an outcry against male overpowering women, sexism in the household and workplace and the failure of the government to protect women against violence.  The author also wants to show the difference in judging and investigating criminal  cases by men versus women. Men lay emphasis on different things than women.
