Write a formula for f(a) in terms of a -3a + 6b = a + 4b
Margaret [11]

Answer:    f(a) = 1/2b

Step-by-step explanation:

-3a + 6b = a + 4b    To write a formula in terms of a then we need to first solve for a.

-3a + 6b  = a +4b

      -6b           -6b

-3a = a + -2b

-a      -a

   -4a = -2b

   a =  1/2b

f(a) = 1/2b

Nine students ask to visit a college admissions counselor. Each scheduled visit includes one student. In how many ways can they
rjkz [21]
When you have to count in how many ways you can arrange something, you need permutations: you have 9 possible students to schedule as first, the second visit will be scheduled with one of the remaining 8 students, the third one with one of the remaining 7 students, and so on until the last one, therefore:

9 × 8 × 7 × 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 362880

The students can be scheduled in 362880 ways.

Earl is choosing a class ring. He can choose gold or silver, one of five different gemstones, and either a round or square stone
Anni [7]
What you can say is:

2 choices for the first one (metals)

5 choices for the second choice stemming off of all the possible first choices (gems)

2 choices stemming off of all those combinations (shape)

So basically it would be:

2 * 5 * 2

Which is equal to 20.
