Mama can't grieve publicly, because people like Tio Luis, who want the money, would grab the chance to take everything. Esperanza, is devastated. she has to live like a peasant now, like Miguel. Esperanza must learn to accept that she and Miguel were raised in the same place. With all of this going on, they decide to move to the US.
