Because many people want to save money, they are avoiding paying fitness center dues and choosing instead to pound the pavement in running shoes and clothing, which are relatively inexpensive. Creative racing opportunities are also a draw for new runners. For example, adventure runs offer participants a chance to run through mud or outdistance zombies. Basically, running offers a new way to have fun while sweating.
