The growth of port cities in colonies of Southeast Asia brought new immigrants to the region from
andreyandreev [35.5K]

The growth of port cities in Southeast Asia brought lot of new immigrants from China and India.

Explanation:

The European colonialism was spread out around much of the world. Southeast Asia too was conquered and colonized for certain period of time. The Europeans had big interest in this region because of its excellent strategic location, as well as because it was rich in multiple resources. Once the Europeans managed to gain full control over Southeast Asia they started to develop the port cities, which led to their rapid growth and became very attractive for the people to move in.

  • Lot of people saw the port cities as good places where they can find opportunities to prosper, so there was large scale migration toward them.
  • The migration toward the port cities was not just from the interior of the region, but also From other places, such as China and India.
  • While lot of people migrated in these places willingly, some were actually brought by the Europeans as labor force.
  • The number of Chinese and Indians was so large, that some areas became dominated by them, or in some regions they were the largest minority groups.

Meandering caused the two oxbow lakes to be formed.

Explanation:

There are multiple different types of lakes, and the type of a lake is determined by the manner in which it has been formed. One of the lake types is the oxbow lake. This type of lake form from the preexisting meanders of the rivers, and they are located right next to a river, usually being separated by the river by only few meters.

When a river is meandering, which happens in flat terrain where the river is slow, it gradually takes up a snaky shape. This type of shape of the river can only go a certain point, till about 90 degrees angle of curvature. Once this angle is reached, the water starts to erode the sediment as it finds it hard to curl. Over time, the sediment is totally eroded, and the river continues in a straight line, cutting off the water to meandering parts, and separating itself from them. This results in the formation of oxbow lake, which is a bow-like, shallow lake.

Other types of lakes are:

  • tectonic
  • volcanic
  • organic
  • glacial

Density is a key component in the behavior of Earth materials and is especially important in understanding important aspects of
jeka57 [31]

Answer:

Density is one of the most factors that play a key role in plate tectonic activities. Some of the ways in which density is important in the field of plate tectonics are as follows-

  • The convergent plate boundaries are responsible for the creation of a subduction zone, where the high-density lithospheric plate subducts below the less dense one. It is because the heavier plate is comprised of heavy minerals thereby forming heavier rocks as a result of which its density increases. Due to these differences in density, there occurs a subduction zone.
  • The divergent plate boundary forms where two plates move away from one another. This type of plate motion is responsible for the eruption of magma on the seafloor. As the plates diverge, the lithosphere becomes eventually thin, and with more progressive spreading, the magma comes out to the seafloor. This is because the hot magma is less dense, and forms convection cells as they rise upward. This is how the density helps in the upwelling of magma at the mid-oceanic ridge in a divergent plate boundary.
  • When there collide two plates of equal densities, then it gives rise to the formation of huge mountains, because neither of them is heavy to get sink. So it uplifts the crust, forming a sandwich-type pattern.
