The peoples party came in to existence in 19th century in US. It gained prominence in Southern and Western US in early years of 1890's. The party collapsed after 1896. Although the party survived until the first decade of 20th century but it couldn't gain the popularity it had in nineteenth century. The major contributors of the party were Farmer's alliance and Green back party. The leaders of populist movement founded this party. Later after its collapse the populists joined the labour movement and folded into Democratic party.
