The British and the French leadership didn't want the 14 points because they believed that the fourteen points did not punish Germany as severely as it deserved for its participation in the war and the war crimes that they committed. Wilson's ideas were more idealistic while the other allies believed that Germans should be hit so hard that they could never recover.
