Answer:

He'll have to make contact with certain townspeople who will tell him if the boy turns up. There's still plenty of time, many years, for Jack to complete his mission and kill the baby. When he hears the police sirens coming to the house where he did his dark work, he walks off, his big knife in his pocket.

Let me preface by saying “I am not sure” but my thoughts lead me towards the exposition.
Reasoning: exposition is meaning or purpose, this seems to be providing the fair woman with a foundation of her character’s meaning and role in the story.

Burka [1]

This thesis statement is an effective comparison\contrast statement because:

It mentions the two objects of comparison; A Jury of Her Peers and The Lamb of the Slaughter.

It explains what things are alike in both texts; use of symbolism, point of view and characterization to explore the stereotypical roles of women in the early twentieth century.

It includes what the author would like for the reader to understand about the topic, which in this case is the stereotypical roles of women in the early twentieth century.

Explain the significance of the final statement in this novel. Of Mice And Men
gizmo_the_mogwai [7]
The final statement of the novel "Of Mice and Men" is "Now what the hell do you suppose is eatin' them two guys" said by Curly and Carlson after George kills Lennie. This shows that Carlson has no insight whatsoever because he doesn't understand the extremity of the situation. This statement is so significant alongside Carlson's obliviousness because it shows that what is "eatin'" at George will be the guilt that comes from not only letting Lennie inflict pain on someone else but killing his best friend. This reaffirms that the pain and guilt that 'eats' away at George will be lifelong and internal, as the surrounding men will never understand his regret, guilt, and shame.
