Lewis and Clark's mission was to discover the land that lead to the Pacific Ocean. president Andrew Jackson requested Lewis and clark to map the western half of the new territory. along the way they were to describe new animals and plants as well as the different tribes of native Americans they encountered along their journey.
Certain portions of the land either do not meet our needs for survival or they are uninhabitable due to climate, altitude, and/or the air quality in those regions.

I prefer the term native Americans becase I'm 25 percent and they aren't Indians those are people from India. They four in the revolutionary war and helped shape America they helped the first settlers learn how to farm and catch there food hope this helps
