People have even been said to believe that 90% of the natives who got infected with this disease died which can show that it was very deadly. reword, answer, cite, explain, and summarize

Claim: what is the author of the text saying
Evidence: back it up with quotes/phrases from the text
Analysis: explain the quote and what you think the author's trying to say
For RACES, it'd be:
Restate the question (i think....)
Answer it (I think... because)
cite (from the given passage....)
explain (how does it all fit together? this is one of the most important parts of the strategy)
summarize (conclusion; not as important)
