BARSIC [14]

The Canterbury Tales was a popular book of the period because it was written in easy-to-understand language.

What were the Canterbury tales?

This was a tale about a group of priests who competed in a tale telling contest as they travelled to the Canterbury city.

The tales were written in the vernacular language. This was way different from the way other stories were written at the time. They were written in other languages.

This was what made it popular.

Trava [24]
The Germans did not have any familiarity with democratic government. Coalition governments couldn't decide how to aid Germany, and they were unable to stop domestic issues. Scroll through this link, which shows Maine's State Officials. Based on your research, which offices are a part of Maine's state
serg [7]

You didn't actually provide the link mentioned, but here's what I would say:

Constitutional officials of the Maine state government:

 • Governor (head of the Executive Branch of state government)
 • Secretary of State (a constitutional officer in state government)
 • Attorney General (a constitutional officer in state government)

Maine is one of five states that don't have an office of Lieutenant Governor.

Maine does not have an official called the "State Comptroller." There is a statutory officer called the State Auditor, which is responsible for auditing the state's finances. There is also an Office of the State Controller ... but technically no office called "comptroller."
