While it is true that a more diverse Congress, representative of the demographics of the United States, would likely be a very good thing, a less diverse Congress does not necessarily mean that the policies and laws implemented will not be representative of the people.

For this reason, it is more important to elect representatives who understand the issues of their constituency instead of looking at race, gender identity, or ethnic background.
