Zeigarnik effect is the psychological effect  in which any unfinished task is being recalled more often. This leads to interruption in any of the current task being performed. This effect says that that brain remembers unfinished task more easily than the task which have been completed.

It happens due to cognitive tension which arises due to uncompleted task. Brain wants to remove cognitive load by completing the task and release the load

In sociology, exchange theory has to do with maximizing benefits while also minimizing costs.
