9514 1404 393

Answer:

  x = 5.4

Step-by-step explanation:

The segment sum theorem tells you ...

  AB +BC = AC

  36 +(5x -9) = 54

  5x = 27 . . . . . . . . . . . subtract 27 from both sides

  x = 5.4 . . . . . . . . . . divide by 5

I need help with these two
Dmitrij [34]

19.

A) 84 : 120 --) 7 : 10, I came up with it by knowing x, # of times ordered,

7(x) : 3(x) sum will be 120 and guessed from there.

B) Well I came up with it trying to get the ratio for A, 84 smoothies.

C) 84 ( smoothies) - 36 ( juice drinks)

20.

A) Ok you first have the birds from the first hour which sum up to 24. Then to calculate what of how many birds you saw for the second hour you use the ratio 2 (cardinals) : 3 ( chickadees) : 3 ( pigeons). Now before you use the ratio you need to know how many birds out of the 36 have not been seen in the first hour so just subtract 36 - 24 = 12. Next you figure out what number you can multiply every bird against to get a sum of 12 birds in total. I figured out it's 1.5 as a multiplier. I know physically it's not possible, but I did all the steps correct and apparently they don't care it's not realistic. I hope this helps you on the homework sheet.

A car is traveling down a highway at a constant speed, described by the equation d=65t, where d represents the distance, in mile
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given an equation d = 65 t, where d represents the distance, in miles, that the car travels at this speed in t hours.

We know distance, speed and time relation

d = s * t.

Where  d represents the distance, that the car travels at this speed in t  at the speed s.

If we compare that relation with the given equation, we can see s = 65.

So,

a) The 65 tell us speed of 65 miles per hour in this situation.

b) Second part seems to be incorrect. Please check it again.

c) We are given distance = 26 miles.

Plugging d= 26 in the given equation.

26 = 65 t

Dividing both sides by 65, we get

26/65 = t

t= 0.4 hours.

So, it takes 0.4 hours or 0.4 * 60 = 24 minutes o travel 26 miles at this speed.
