The masque of the red death is an allegorical story filled with symbolism. what do the seven rooms in the palace symbolize?
lara [203]
There's m,any theories as to what the seven rooms symbolize but here are two popular ones. The rooms symbolize the seven stages of life from birth to death or that the rooms symbolize the seven levels of Hell. Take your pick, you can probably argue better for the first one, though. Each color has significance to the stage of life it represents, I can't remember all the different colors, but you get the idea.

MaRussiya [10]
One modernist author who examined racism and oppression through a story of friendship between an Englishman and an Indian was E.M. Foster, in his most famous work, A Passage to India. The whole novel itself is about whether it will ever be possible for an Indian and an Englishman to become friends, given the circumstances in India after the British colonization. Written in 1924, the novel explores this theme, as well as many other subjects such as oppression and racism.

Read the poem "Grass" and answer the question that follows.
Katarina [22]

Answer:

The phrase suggests that people quickly forget the past.

Explanation:

We can immediately strike out "The phrase stresses that grass needs time to do its work." since it is clear that there is a deeper meaning to the poem. We can strike out "The phrase implies that time helps people heal their emotional wounds. " under the explaination that there is no emotional aspect to the poem. It is from the grass's POV. There have been no emotional connections said outright to allow us to draw this conclusion. Finally, we can strike "The phrase describes the intervals between the wars. " Although places such as Austerlitz, Waterloo, Gettysburg, Ypres, and Verdun are mentioned, it doesn't seem as though this is what the poem is mainly about. It is about how the grass is working for years and years. It can be assumed that as many people forget about grass, people can quickly forget the past.
