He vetoed it for various reasons. For starters, he believed that it was a thing up to individual states and that it infringed on the states right to choose. Another reason was that he believed that such beneficial extension would not make people equal, but rather it would be racist towards the white people. His main argument, however, was that the bill would have a certain group gain rights that they are not entitled to, while a large part of the states does not even have representation in the congress, and that the congress needs to be enlarged first.

<span>This is of course somewhat of a subjective question, but in general most would agree that in general expansion was not justifiable since the Mexicans and Natives were doing nothing to provoke the US. One could argue it was justifiable since Americans needed more land. </span>

The Treaty of Versailles meant peace at the times, as it ended the WWI. However, it also established very harsh conditions for Germany (high war reparations), which later led to Germany's poverty and the rize of Nazis to power : so it's blamed for instigating (causing, leading to) the WWII.

The Treaty of Versailles also brought a big land loss for Germany, Austria and Hungary.
