Leo needs to drive from Boston to Chicago. He planned to drive for 20 hours at an average speed of 50 mph. But drove 60 mph for

the first 5 hours. During the remaining part of the trip, his average speed was 50 mph, how much earlier did he arrive in Chicago than he originally planned?

He arrived 1 hour earlier.

The formula for distance in this case is
d=rt, where d is distance, r is rate (speed) and t is time.

The first leg of his trip, he traveled at 60 mph for 5 hours:
d = 60(5) = 300
He traveled 300 miles during the first part of his trip.

He had originally planned to travel 50 mph for 20 hours:
d = rt = 50(20) = 1000

His entire trip is 1000 miles.

The second part of the trip is then represented by
1000-300 = 50t
700 = 50t

Divide both sides by 50:
700/50 = 50t/50
14 = t

He traveled 5 hours for the first part and 14 hours the second part, for a total of 19 hours.
This is 20-19 = 1 hour earlier than he'd planned.

Suppose you have a credit card debt of $4,000. Last month the bank charged you $40 interest on the debt. The solution to the equ
attashe74 [19]

Answer:

12%

Step-by-step explanation:

As per the given formula:

 • 40= 4000/12r
 • r = 40*12/4000
 • r = 0.12
 • 0.12*100% = 12%

Interest rate is 12%

The perimeter of a shape will always be greater then the area of the shape
bazaltina [42]
Not necessarily. For example, you can have a rectangle whose dimensions are 12 and 6. Length is 12 and 6 is the width.

The area (length × width) of the rectangle will be 72.

The perimeter of the rectangle (2l + 2w) will be 36.

So, in this case, the area was double the perimeter and the perimeter was not greater than the area of the shape.

You order fourteen burritos to go from a Mexican restaurant, six with hot peppers and eight without. However, the restaurant for
Genrish500 [490]

Answer:

0.578

Step-by-step explanation:

If you pick three burritos at random, find the probability of the given event. (Round your answer to three decimal places.)

Given that there are 14 orders at the ratio by of:

6 with hot peppers

8 without hot peppers

At most two have hot peppers.

Binomial Problem with n = 3 ; p(hot) = 6/8

P(0<= x <=2) = 1 - P(x = 3)

= 1 - (6/8)^3

= 1 - ( 3/4 )^3

= 1 - ( 27/64 )^3

= 1- (37/64)

= 1 - 0.421875

= 0.578125

= 0.578

For fun question
iVinArrow [24]
We have an arithmetic progression:
an=number of item at row n

an=a₁+(n-1)d

d=common difference=an-a(n-1)=a₂-a₁=2-1=1
n=number of row

In this case:

an=1+(n-1)*1=n

The sum of an arithmetic serie is:
Sn=(a₁+an)n / 2

In this case:
a₁=1 (number of itms in the first row)
an=n (we have to calculate this before)

Sn=(1+n)n /2=(n+n²)/2

Therefore:
f(n)=Sn=number of items when we have n number of rows

f(n)=(n+n²)/2

Answer: f(n)=(n+n²)/2

To chek:

f(1)=(1+1²)/2=1
f(2)=(2+2²)/2=6/2=3
f(3)=(3+3²)/2=(3+9)/2=12/2=6
