There are several reasons experts believe the city of Cahokia disappeared such as:

  • It grew too large
  • Sanitary system wasn't good and people got sick.
  • Inhabitants destroyed the nearby forests to get firewood and without the wood, their city couldn't survive.
  • Enemies attacked.

Cahokia was a thriving city that was quite prosperous with their main food being maize which the fair climate allowed them to grow.

Overtime this changed and a drought that lasted for centuries kicked in. It led to conflict and strife in the large settlement as people could not get enough food.

Experts also believe that other problems such as poor sanitation systems and enemies attacking may have also contributed to the inhabitants leaving.

In conclusion, Cahokia was large and thriving but faced many challenges that in the end led to it collapsing.

If you could change one part of the story "Guinto sa Makiling", what would it be and why? What
Afina-wow [57]

Answer:

I would make sure that Sanang didn't need to disappear from the real world to live with her great love. Although this adds romance and intensity to the story, I find it a little sad to have to leave the family, in the name of love, since there must also be love in the family.

Instead, I would allow Doro's aunt to visit both worlds and her family would go with her to this other universe.

Explanation:

"Guinto sa Makiling" is a Filipino novel that tells the story of Sanang who has to go through extremely difficult challenges to prove her love for her boyfriend Edong, so that both can live together in Shangri-la, united by the love that surrounds them .

Although little known, the novel is one of the most important works of the Philippines, portraying cultural and religious traits with great mastery.
