monitta

Answer:

raining hard = raining<u> cats and dogs</u>

walked= <u>strolled</u>

felt cold and wet = <u>could feel the rain droplets as sharp glass pieces hitting her chilled face and numb hands</u> even<u> in the biting cold</u>

worried about being late=<u>what killed her inside</u> was being late at that peculiar time.

Explanation:

It was raining hard as Maria walked down the street. She felt cold and wet and was worried about being late.

It was raining<u> cats and dogs</u> as Maria <u>strolled </u>down the street. She <u>could feel the rain droplets as sharp glass pieces hitting her chilled face and numb hands</u> even<u> in the biting cold</u> but <u>what killed her inside</u> was being late at that peculiar time.

The changed sentence has the same meaning as the original sentence but depicts more feelings of the girl both on the outside and the inside.

Which excerpt from “The Latin Deli: An Ars Poetica” is an example of an allusion? the heady mix of smells from the open bins of
Len [333]

Answer:

Suspiros, Merengues, the stale candy of everyone’s childhood.

Explanation:

An allusion is the referencing of something without actually explicitly mentioning it. It acts as a means to bring something into the mind without directly mentioning it in detail. It could be used as a means to refer to something that the writer/author wants to bring into mind but not direct referencing.

Judith Cofer Ortiz's "The Latin Deli: An Ars Poetica" is an observation that uses vivid imagery and detailed description. It focuses on the issue of an immigrant displacement and the identity crisis, being uprooted from the 'old lie' into the new world of America. An example of an allusion is found in the mention of <em>"Suspiros, Merengues, the stale candy of everyone's childhood"</em> which is a reference to the childhood of the author or anyone displaced, for that matter. It brings back memories of their childhood.

Thus, the correct answer is the third option.

AleksandrR [38]

6 white arrows? what does that mean. XD anyways

if you mean details as in details about the deer, than the deer has nice green eyes, "The headlights turn their dark eyes green." They're "Calm as ponds," and they liked sitting under a tree in a families backyard. I hope this helped, sorry it kind of sucked as an answer. :/
