Self-interest can influence behavior in a negative way as you will only care about yourself. This will most likely end up hurting a lot of people around you, but also hurt you the most. Empathy can also influence behavior in a similar way. Empathy can be a great thing in the way that your behavior is seen as kind and respectful, but people may take advantage of that and hurt you.
