During the world war 1, Military's all across the world have implemented technologies such as Automatic rifles, aircraft that can drop bombs in a large radius, and tanks.  These technologies was started to be used in early 1900s and caused approximately around 40 million deaths during world war 1. This number is only surprised by World War 2 which almost doubled the victims of world war 1..

For comparisons, American civil war occurred in late 1860s and soldiers still used single rifles during that war. The death toll on that war was around 650,000.
