You have just come back from a three-month long expedition in the Amazon rain forest. As you take off the hat you wore throughou

t the trip, you noticed some unusual particles. Always curious, you put one of these particles in a drop of water on a microscope, Having seen some cells under the microscope before, you recognize that these particles appear to be made of cells.
1. Knowing the cell theory, you hypothesize that he structures you see are cells from an organisms you had some contact with during your travels. Describe in your own words the three main parts of the cell theory.

2. Recalling what you have learned about cells, you marvel at the ability of these tiny things to support their life functions. You then remember that they could not easily get much bigger without drastic changes. Explain why cells are so small, considering the relationship between surface area and volume for objects of different sizes but similar shapes.

The answers are as follows:
1. The cell theory is the explanation about cells which all scientists all over the world as accepted as been correct. The theory gives explanation about the relationship between the cells and the living organisms. The theory has three main aspects, which are as follows:
1. All living organisms are made up of cells, the cell may be unicellular or multi cellular.
2. The cell is the basic unit of life for all living things.
3. New cells usually come from the cells which are already existing.

2. Living cells usually control the size of their cells; when the cells reach their maximum size, they typically divide into two in order to remain within the required cell size. For all living things, the surface area to volume ratio get smaller as the cell size increases. This is not beneficial to the cells because, this will limit the amount of needed nutrients and substances which can cross the membrane into the inside of the cells and this could lead to the death of the cell. In order to prevent this, the cell maintain the required cells size by dividing when necessary.
