Answer:

When I see you in prison, it is sad.

Explanation:

A complex sentence must consist of one independent clause (complete sentence) and at least one dependent clause. I joined both clauses using "when". "It is sad" is the independent clause and "When I see you in prison" is the dependent clause.

REY [17]

Marley was thrilled.

The description of Marley before this shows him leaping, spinning, running and pouncing. All of these are very energetic actions that show he is not just slightly happy. The speaker is using an understatement "Marley was a little excited" to emphasis how actually thrilled Marley was to play ball.

They imply that Myra is uncomfortably hot.

In the passage, the setting is described as noon on a sunny day in August. From this description we can infer that it is hot out. When Myra says, "This sun is cooking me," we can infer that she is in the hot sun and can feel the heat as though she is being cooked. She does not indicate that she is in pain or that she is unhappy.  It simply means that she is hot.

Why is the setting so important to the story? Give details and examples. barrio boy
Delicious77 [7]
Setting is more than simply a geographical location or time period that serves as a backdrop to characters’ actions. Fictional settings have many uses:

The places you set your scenes contribute mood and tone (a dark, eerie wood creates a very different sense of danger or mystery compared to a bright, open plain)

Places restrict (or open) possibilities for your characters’ lives and actions (a character living in a small mining town might have very different perceptions and options compared to a character who lives in a large city)

Places can evolve and change as your story progresses. You can use their evolution to show the changing circumstances affecting your characters’ views and options (for example, in Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh, the narrator visits a grand manor he knew in his youth. He finds it crumbling due to the onslaught of the war. This creates melancholic nostalgia. Waugh uses changing physical setting to convey the idea of loss.)

I would like to begin at what I am most proud of as of third quarter. One thing I am most proud of is being able to turn in work and attend my classes. A important strength I have within myself is probably how determined I am or maybe that I like to try new things which can bring strength. Something that I probably need to work on the most is my attitude towards certain things. For example my homework, it’s something most students hate but it’s something that makes up most my grade so if I want to have a good grade I just do it. Sometimes it’s hard for me to focus though. Something I enjoy most throughout my class is probably that I get to talk to my peers or learning something new. Although something I like least is when I get called on and don’t know the answer. It’s something I don’t enjoy because I often don’t feel smart afterwards. I like to watch Netflix after school I know that’s not a hobby but it’s something I enjoy. Next quarter I’m looking forward to just learning some new things. As of next year I hope I get some interesting classes that can help me focus on what I want to go after college. Since everything you do now kind of leads up to what you do in the future. Probably the easier subject for me is well..not quite sure but probably math or science. One of those two definitely. Most difficult is probably math it can be both easy and hard at times. (Make sure to edit this out but I’m not sure what projects you had so make sure you do that yourself) I think I was most excited to learn more about science in general since there is a lot of fascinating things you can learn about. One of the toughest things about being online is probably not being able to talk to each other like how it would be if it was face to face. It was convenient because I can eat whenever I want and didn’t have to worry about how I dressed. (You fill out fav spirit day and memorable moment but delete this) As you read the end of this essay, I just wanna say thank you for being one of the many teachers who have been incredible during this pandemic. Talk to you soon!
