Evaluate the extent to which the ratification of the fourteenth and fifteenth amendments to the constitution marked a turning po
viktelen [127]
First, let’s take a look at what the ratification of the 14th amendment meant. The Fourteenth Amendment gave citizenship to all people who were born or naturalized (a non-citizen who earns citizenship) in the U.S., including former slaves. It also allowed the government the ability to reduce representation in Congress for states that interfered with a person’s right to vote.
The Fifteenth Amendment focused on not allowing states the ability to deny someone their right to vote based on their race, color, or previous enslavement. States could, however, choose how citizens qualify to vote. Some southern states required people pay taxes to vote or take a literacy (reading and writing) test.
By allowing everyone who is a citizen (including former slaves) to participate in voting and electing government officials, this provided a way for all to be represented. Some changes still needed to be made, as seen in the Fifteenth Amendment. The creation of these amendments paved the way for future laws to be passed including the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act. They ensured that all voters, regardless of skin color or race, would be seen as equals, be present, and be heard in political matters.

Who was not free in medieval England
Rus_ich [418]
The largest class of the population were villani. (Those born to servile status were also called nativi.) About four in ten people were villani tied to the land. They did not own the land but farmed their own holdings (about 45 per cent of all English land,) which they were allowed to occupy in exchange for labor services on the landowner's demesne.

The exact services required from villani varied in accordance with local customs and agreements. A common arrangement was three days work each week (more in harvest time). During the 12th Century the villani were keen to have their labor services commuted to money rents, but labor services remained widespread.

What happened the same week in 1914 when the Panama Canal opened?
valina [46]

Answer:In response, President Theodore Roosevelt gave tacit approval to a Panamanian independence movement, which was engineered in large part by Philippe-Jean Bunau-Varilla and his canal company. On November 3, 1903, a faction of Panamanians issued a declaration of independence from Colombia. The U.S.-administered railroad removed its trains from the northern terminus of Colón, thus stranding Colombian troops sent to crush the rebellion. Other Colombian forces were discouraged from marching on Panama by the arrival of U.S. warship Nashville.
