HELP PLEASE!!! I need help with 94 if you could show the steps that would be very helpful!

A combination is an unordered arrangement of r distinct objects in a set of n objects. To find the number of permutations, we use the following equation:

n!/((n-r)!r!)

In this case, there could be 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or all 5 cards discarded. There is only one possible combination each for 0 or 5 cards being discarded (either none of them or all of them). We will be the above equation to find the number of combination s for 1, 2, 3, and 4 discarded cards.

5!/((5-1)!1!) = 5!/(4!*1!) = (5*4*3*2*1)/(4*3*2*1*1) = 5

5!/((5-2)!2!) = 5!/(3!2!) = (5*4*3*2*1)/(3*2*1*2*1) = 10

5!/((5-3)!3!) = 5!/(2!3!) = (5*4*3*2*1)/(2*1*3*2*1) = 10

5!/((5-4)!4!) = 5!/(1!4!) = (5*4*3*2*1)/(1*4*3*2*1) = 5

Notice that discarding 1 or discarding 4 have the same number of combinations, as do discarding 2 or 3. This is being they are inverses of each other. That is, if we discard 2 cards there will be 3 left, or if we discard 3 there will be 2 left.

Now we add together the combinations

1 + 5 + 10 + 10 + 5 + 1 = 32 choices combinations to discard.

The answer is 32.

-------------------------------

Note: There is also an equation for permutations which is:

n!/(n-r)!

Notice it is very similar to combinations. The only difference is that a permutation is an ORDERED arrangement while a combination is UNORDERED.

We used combinations rather than permutations because the order of the cards does not matter in this case. For example, we could discard the ace of spades followed by the jack of diamonds, or we could discard the jack or diamonds followed by the ace of spades. These two instances are the same combination of cards but a different permutation. We do not care about the order.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions, let me know :)

Mario had 9 green 810 Brown 6 Orange and 9 blue m&m's what is the fractions of M&M's that are orange? Help please
Ipatiy [6.2K]
Hey You!

Let's add up the total about of M&M's.

9 + 810 + 6 + 9 = 834

That is the denominator for the fraction. The numerator is the amount of orange M&M's, which have a quantity of 6.

= 6/834

Which one is correct? in need of large help
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

Option C. x + 12 ≤ 2(x – 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we obtained the following information:

x + 12 ≤ 5 – y .......(1)

5 – y ≤ 2(x – 3) ....... (2)

To know which option is correct, do the following:

From equation 2,

5 – y ≤ 2(x – 3)

Thus, we can say

5 – y = 2(x – 3)

Now, we shall substitute the value of 5 – y into equation 1 as shown below:

x + 12 ≤ 5 – y

5 – y = 2(x – 3)

x + 12 ≤ 2(x – 3)

From the above illustration, we can see that if x + 12 ≤ 5 – y and 5 – y ≤ 2(x – 3), then x + 12 ≤ 2(x – 3) must be true.

Option C gives the correct answer.

Four circles are inscribed in squares. Write a function f in terms of the radius r that represents the area of the shaded region
laila [671]

Answer:

The answer is = 3.432r²

Step-by-step explanation:

The pictorial representation of the question is given below

                       (The first uploaded image)

Step 1: State the parameters and the required formula

Let L denote the length of the square

Let B denote the breath of the Square

Let D denote the diameter of the circle = 2r

Let r denote the radius of the circle = D÷2

    Area of a square = L × B = L × L = L²    (Note for a square L = B)

    Area of circle = πr²

Step 2: Consider the first inscription of circle inside the square

From the diagram we see that the diameter of the circle is equal to the length and breadth of the square.

Hence the area of the square in terms of radius is

          Area of square = D * D

                                     = 2r * 2r

                                    = 4r²

Now to obtain the area of the shaded region for the first inscription of circle we subtract the area of the square from the area of the circle

          = 4r² - πr²          Note: π =3.142

Therefore we have Area of shaded region for first inscription of circle, S = 0.858r²

Step 3: Now we consider the area of the shaded region for the inscription of  four circles into squares, as shown on the diagram (uploaded image).

Since the area of the shaded region for the first inscription is 0.858r² then for the four inscription of the circles into squares,

The area will be 4 multiplied by area of the shaded region for the first circle inscribed to a square

i.e. 4 × 0.858r² = 3.432r²

Therefore the area of the shaded region is given as 3.432r²
