A 25 ft. ladder resting against the side of a building forms a right triangle with the ground. The bottom of the ladder is 7 ft.
ruslelena [56]

Answer:

The correct answer is 24

Step-by-step explanation:

to solve this you will need to use the pathagreom theorum

a^{2}+b^{2}=c^{2}

A= one side lenth

B= the secons side lenth

C= hypotnuse

It is helpfull to draw out the situation

you know that the latter is 25 ft, that is your hypotnuse

you also know that the 7 ft away from the base of the building is one of the side lenths, lets call it side a

so plug the numbers into the equation

7^2 + b^2 = 25 ^2

you leave b^2 alone because that is the side you are trying to find

now square 7 and 25 but leave b^2 alone

49 + b^2 = 625

now subtract 49 from both sides

b^2 = 576

now to get rid of the square of b you have to do the opposite and square root both sides removing the square of the B and giving you the answer of..........

B= 24

Hope this helped!! I tryed to explain it as simpil as possiable

How to I solve problem 1?
Verdich [7]
#1

The uniforms are numbered 0, 1, 2, ..., 99. That's 100 numbers. Half of them are odd and half of them are even. So the probability that any one of the uniforms is odd is 1/2 just like the probability that any one uniform is even is 1/2.

(a) The numbers on the uniforms are independent of one another. That is, the number of her cross-country uniform does not in any way determine the number on her basketball uniform and vice versa. This means that we can find the probability that each is odd and multiply these together using what is called the counting principle. The probability that all are odd is:
(1/2)(1/2)(1/2)=1/8

(b) This is done the same way we did part (a). Since the probability of any one uniform being odd is the same as it being even (1/2), the answer here is the same: (1/2)(1/2)(1/2)=1/8

(c) This problem differs from that in (a) and (b). There is only one way for all three uniforms to be odd numbers: (odd, odd, odd) or all even (even, even, even). However, there are multiple ways for the uniforms to be two odd and one even. If the uniforms are listed in order: cross-country, basketball, softball we can get exactly one even in any of three ways:
even, odd, odd
odd, even, odd
odd, odd, even
The probability for any one of these possibilities is (1/2)(1/2)(1/2)=1/8 but since there are three way the probability that we get even exactly once is equal to (3)(1/8) = 3/8

Find the 137th odd number.
KIM [24]

The first odd number is 1. The next is 2 more than the previous one.

It's an arithmetic sequence.

The general term of an arithmetic sequence:

a_n=a_1+(n-1)d

a_n - n-th term

a_1 - first term

d - common difference.

We have

a_1=1,\ d=2,\ n=137

Substitute:

a_{137}=1+(137-1)(2)=1+(136)(2)=1+272=273

Answer: 137th odd number is equal 273.
