The Chernobyl disaster was nuclear accident wich took place at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant  in the north of the Soviet Union on 25 April 1986. The accident occurred during a test which finnaly provocated an explotion.

During the explotion a great quantity of noxious sustances were realeased. The result was the death of 31 people, and the evacuation of mora than 100.000 people. Also, it was produced an alarm in 13 countries of Europe due to radioactivity. Lots of people received huge quantities of radiation. Other people  received a radiation dose in the post-accident decontamination work.  Some people lived in contaminated areas.

This information was taken from the document called: "Chernobyl Accident 1986" by the World Nuclear Association.
