In his inaugural speech, delivered on January 20, 1961, President John F. Kennedy used first person plural point of view to emphasis that we are all part of a global community and are therefore responsible for keeping peace and working toward ending poverty.
When Kennedy addresses that <em>"we offer a special pledge ... in casting off the chains of poverty." </em>He is including his audience as well insisting on that we all play an important role towards our global community and thus should work to maintain peace and combat poverty.
