Why should people care about the problem of child labor? Write an argument that encourages people to take action. Explain why th
Arada [10]

Explanation:

Although there is an extensive literature on the determinants of child labor and many initiatives aimed at combating it, there is limited evidence on the consequences of child labor on socio-economic outcomes such as education, wages, and health. We evaluate the causal effect of child labor participation on these outcomes using panel data from Vietnam and an instrumental variables strategy. Five years subsequent to the child labor experience, we find significant negative impacts on school participation and educational attainment, but also find substantially higher earnings for those (young) adults who worked as children. We find no significant effects on health. Over a longer horizon, we estimate that from age 30 onward the forgone earnings attributable to lost schooling exceed any earnings gain associated with child labor and that the net present discounted value of child labor is positive for discount rates of 11.5 percent or higher. We show that child labor is prevalent among households likely to have higher borrowing costs, that are farther from schools, and whose adult members experienced negative returns to their own education. This evidence suggests that reducing child labor will require facilitating access to credit and will also require households to be forward looking.

WILL BRAINLIEST
expeople1 [14]

Answer:

After reading the excerpt from Enrique’s Journey, it is noticed that the underlined phrases support the author’s purpose when they show that the worst part of the train ride may be over. So, the third option is the right answer.

Explanation:

This excerpt talks about the change of scenery when Enrique's train approaches a town. Enrique watches the men tending the corn, the women working in the kitchens, cowboys smiling and riding past the train, and fieldworkers working happily. There is also a change in the natural atmosphere. It changes into something peaceful. Mountains drawing closer, green fields and butterflies fluttering at the end of the journey. All these positive pointers make us hopeful that the worst part of the ride is over and now there would be better things coming in.

DerKrebs [107]

The answer is:

The children were lying warmly and tightly in bed, while they were having sweet dreams; and momma in her bandana, and I in my cap, had just got ready to take a long winter's nap.

An informal register is used when speaking or writing to people we know well, like family and friends. There are no considerable rules in informal language, so it is appropriate to tell jokes and the use of slang, contractions, personal opinions, incomplete sentences and extra punctuation.

Why is this excerpt an example of situational irony?
ZanzabumX [31]

This question is incomplete. Here is the complete question:

Read the excerpt from act 4, scene 3, of Julius Caesar.

BRUTUS. No man bears sorrow better. Portia is dead.

CASSIUS. Ha! Portia?

BRUTUS. She is dead.

CASSIUS. How scaped I killing when I crossed you so?

O insupportable and touching loss!

Upon what sickness?

BRUTUS. Impatient of my absence,

And grief that young Octavius with Mark Antony

Have made themselves so strong—for with her death

That tidings came. With this, she fell distraught,

And, her attendants absent, swallowed fire.

Why is this excerpt an example of situational irony?

Cassius does not believe that Portia is dead.

Brutus does not believe that Portia is dead.

Portia's death is unexpected because Brutus tried to protect her.

Cassius's response is unexpected because Brutus tried to protect him.

Answer:

The correct answer is "Cassius's response is unexpected because Brutus tried to protect him."

Explanation:

Let's start by clarifying what situational irony is.

Situational irony is what is used in literature for those situations where something totally different happens from what the audience expects to happen. There is the irony.

In this excerpt this happens in Cassius' amazement at Brutus, who did not kill him when he was actually expected to.

Given this information we can say that the correct answer is "Cassius's response is unexpected because Brutus tried to protect him."
