Given that in the Worcester v. Georgia 1832, the court ruled that the states had no right or jurisdiction to compel regulations on Native American land.

The President of the United States, however, supported the state of Georgia instead. His reason was that:

1. He believed that expansion of United States territory was significant, hence, he used the opportunity to send the Native Americans to the Western territory from Georgia.

2. He also personally believed that Native American tribes were not like foreign nations, hence, he endorsed the eviction of Native American tribes from Georgia, and then send them to the West, with a compensation of 5 million dollars, including protection from external forces.
