Which of the following statements about John and Elizabeth Proctor's troubled marriage is supported by the passage? (1 Point) "R
butalik [34]

Answer:

"Abby, I may think of you softly from time to time. But I will cut off my hand before I‘ll ever reach for you again."

Explanation:

The statement which reveals about John and Elizabeth Proctor's troubled marriage is <em>' "Abby,I may think of you softly from time to time. But I will cut off my hand before I‘ll ever reach for you again." '</em>

This statement appears in Act 1 of the play The Crucible. In this statement, John Proctor is having conversation with Abigail. This statement suggests that John and Abigail had relationship out of wedlock before Abigail left the Proctor's house. John, in this statement, is addressing Abigail as Abby, shows that they know each other very well and now John does not want to have any relationship or feelings for her.

This relationship between Abigail and John Proctor out of wedlock also reveal the fact about the troubled marriage of John and Elizabeth Proctor. John was cheating on Elizabethh with their maid-servant, Abigail.

Thus the correct statement is the last option (D).

What does it mean to say that during the Elizabethan age, costuming was "anachronistic"? Costumes did not necessarily match the
Lady bird [3.3K]

Although Elizabethen actors may have worn the same costume no matter the performance, the style of the clothing (dresses, suits, etc) was anachronistic because the costumes matched the period of time that the play was being held, for example actors may have dressed differently in the 1560's compared to the same show in the early 1600s. The srtyle changed with the time period but the play was the same.
