How does William react when Kit is arrested for witchcraft in The Witch of Blackbird Pond

Answer:

William keeps his distance and doesn't help Kit.

Explanation:

In "The Witch of Blackbird Pond", by Elizabeth George Speare, the main character Kit is at some point accused of being a witch. The story is set in Puritan New England during a time when women could get easily accused for doing witchcraft. The Bible was not only taken seriously, but also followed in a quite extreme way. People were quick to point fingers and judge others based on what they thought was sinful behavior.

William is a young bachelor who has been seeing Kit and showing interest in marrying her. However, when the accusation takes place, William does nothing to help Kit. He doesn't even show up to the examination, doesn't try to testify in Kit's favor. Luckily, Kit is helped by her friends and uncle and is acquitted. She breaks up with William.

It’s kinda like figurative language but it’s not literal. The term “Summer spoke to me” most likely meant, reaching but not in a literal way.

If you were to read a memoir written by Neil Armstrong, what would most likely be the focus
Naddika [18.5K]
A memoir is much like a self reflection that tells anecdotes from the author's past. Neil Armstrong who was the first man to land on the moon, would most likely have a memoir focused on his training and his experience flying in outer space and walking upon the moon's surface.
