Can someone show me how to do the steps to get the answer. Please
Ira Lisetskai [31]
First convert the fractions into inpropper fractions by takeing the denominator and multiplying it by the whole number blus the nummerator. For 3(1/2) it becomes 7/2 and for 1(1/2) it becomes 3/2. Then multiply the fractions 7/2 x 3/2 = 21/2 now make it a mixed fraction so the answer is 2(1/2)

Answer:

3/2 cm^2 or 1.5 cm^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Remark

This is another one of those very poorly design questions where a lot is taken for granted. There is nothing to show the the black square has an area of 1/4 square cm. or the white square is 1/2 cm^2. You are left to speculate, and you should never have to guess a dimension from a diagram.

That said here are the assumptions

 1. Each side of the square = Perimeter / 4. That's because the perimeter is 8 and each of the 4 sides is 2 cm. because 8/4 = 2
 2. That's the only thing that you can conclude for certain.
 3. It looks like the white rectangles have a length that totals 2. Therefore each one must be 1 cm long.
 4. The width of the white square must be 1/2 the width of a side divided by 2. That's because The grey square takes up 1/2 the with of the side and the white square is 1/2 of what is left over.

White square area = L * W

L = 1 (which comes from 1/2 of 2)

W = 1/2

Area = 1 * 1/2 = 1/2

There are two them them so their area = 1

The black squares are 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4 square cm. There are two of them so their total area = 1/2 square cm.

Total of the white and black squares = 1 + 1/2 = 1 1/2 or 3/2 square cm.

Y=kx+b
A (1,-2) B (-2,-8)
Linear functions!
Gnoma [55]
K=slope
b=y intercept

find slope
slope=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

(x,y)
(1,-2)
(-2,-8)

x1=1
y1=-2
x2=-2
y2=-8

slope=(-8-(-2))/(-2-1)=(-6)/(-3)=2/1=2

k=2
subsitute
y=2x+b
subsitute one point
(1,-2)
x=1,y=-2

-2=2(1)+b
-2=2+b
subtract 2
-4=b

y=2x-4
