Note: Consider we need to find each type of coins he has.

Given:

Erin has quarters and nickels for a total of 16 coins.

The value of his coins is $2.60.

To find:

The number of each type of coins.

Solution:

Let x represent the number of quarters and y represent the number of nickels.

According to the question,

Total coins : x+y=16        ...(i)

Total value : 0.25x+0.05y=2.60        ...(ii)

Multiply equation (i) by 0.25 and subtract the result from (ii).

0.25x+0.05y-0.25(x+y)=2.60-0.25(16)

0.25x+0.05y-0.25x-0.25y=2.60-4

-0.20y=-1.40

Divide both sides by -0.20.

y=7

Put y=7 in (i).

x+7=16

x=16-7

x=9

Therefore, the number of quarters is 9 and number of nickels is 7.

use the substitution method to solve the system of equations. Enter your answer as an ordered pair. y=2x+1 y=6x-1
user100 [1]

Answer:

(0.5, 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

substitution method is when you substitute a variable for another

so, it is given that y=2x+1 and y=6x-1. so we know the 'y' value is equal since they are the same thing

hence:

y=2x+1

y=6x-1

2x+1=6x-1

4x=2

x=1/2

y=2

F(x) 2 square root -x^2+10 x what’s the domain
SSSSS [86.1K]

The domain of the function are all real numbers greater than 10

<h3>Domain of a function</h3>

Domain are values of the independent variables for which the function exist.

Given the function below;

f(x)=2\sqrt{-x^2+10x}

For the function to exist, then;

-x^2+10x = 0

-x^2 = -10x

x = 10

Hence the domain of the function are all real numbers greater than 10
