Bruno and Shmuel
In the story "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" Bruno and Shmuel are the protagonists because they are mostly mentioned in the book. Bruno is a protagonist because he was mostly mentioned in the book, and he was a main character. He also helped Shmuel by bringing him food and being his friend. Shmuel was a protagonist because he was friends with Bruno and helped him because he wouldn't let him into the camp and taught him about how he got there, his family, and Poland.
Antagonist- Is the person or thing working against the protagonist, or hero, of a work.
Father, The Fury, Lieutenant Kurt Kotler, Gretel
They are the antagonists because in the story they are all against Bruno and Shmuel. Father is an antagonist because he was always against Bruno, and helped the Fury capture Shmuel. The Fury is the antagonist because he started the whole thing. He also moved Bruno to out-with. Lieutenant Kotler is an antagonist to Bruno and Shmuel because he made fun of Bruno and beat up Shmuel. Gretel looked down at Bruno, she bossed him around and thought she was better than him.
