Here we can observe that the verb used doesn't reflect the correct tense to express when this action took/is taking/will take place. There are many tenses where you could choose from, depending of the time of action:

Tenses: Simple, Progressive, Perfect, Perfect progressive
Times: Past, Present, and Future

Imagine all the combinations!

The simplest example we could make is if this action is a routine that happens continuously, the action verb (invite) is changed to simple present for the third person of singular (invites):

Tommy, in an effort to maintain clowning's positive roots, invites dancers to weekly performance battles.

What idea is being emphasized with the repetition? How does the use of repetition make it more clear?
GarryVolchara [31]
When repetition is being used in a passage, the author wants you to know that whatever being repeated is a main point, a key in understanding, or the point of a concept. If something is being repeated in a question, that can help you deceiver what the question is asking, or any clues given.

I hope this helped you.

1. In "The Necklace", what things
ahrayia [7]

Answer:

Mathilde longed for financial freedom, luxury, beautiful furniture, social standing, delicate meals, exquisite serving utensils, and a life of ease. She felt that she deserved better than what she had. She was especially unhappy with her husband as she felt she should have married into a higher social class. Loisel seems like the simple, happy, good guy in the story, a foil for his perpetually dissatisfied wife. Monsieur Loisel wants to please his wife, who he loves, whereas Madame Loisel is self-absorbed and indifferent to her husband. He has married a beautiful wife, who he sees as a prize, whereas she is frustrated by being married to a man of her own lower middle class status rather than a fabulous aristocrat.
