ABC stories are just one of the many forms of ASL literature that Deaf artists create. Another form of written/spoken literature

that is similar to ABC stories is called acrostic poetry, or poetry where the first letters of each line spell out a word, phrase, or follow alphabetical order. Why do you think the ABC story form or acrostic poetry form might be helpful for Deaf writers or Deaf audiences? What type of situations might they choose to use these storytelling forms in?

The ABC story form and acrostic poetry are both excellent educational tools to improve sign language skills because they allow practicing ASL while doing an entertaining activity that requires being expressive and applying the imagination to build stories.
