Although it is often claimed that Christians were persecuted for their refusal to worship the emperor, general dislike for Christians likely arose from their refusal to worship the gods or take part in sacrifice, which was expected of those living in the Roman Empire.

vesna_86 [32]

a. unite Native Americans in a vast confederacy; The Shawnee leader Tecumseh formed a vast confederacy of Native Americans.

More about Shawnee leader Tecumseh:

Tecumseh's Indian Confederacy successfully delayed further white settlement in the region for several years. However, in 1811, future President William Henry Harrison led an attack on the Confederacy's Tippecanoe River base. Tecumseh was in the South at the time, attempting to persuade more tribes to join his movement. Although the battle of Tippecanoe was close, Harrison eventually won and destroyed a large portion of Tecumseh's army.

When the War of 1812 broke out the following year, Tecumseh immediately mobilised his remaining army to aid the British. He was promoted to brigadier general and was an effective ally in the British capture of Detroit and other battles. When the tide of war shifted in favour of the Americans, Tecumseh's fortunes sank along with those of the British. He was killed during the Battle of the Thames on October 5, 1813.
