Ulysses S. Grant was born in 1822, and was the 18th president of United State, he assumed office in the year 1869. He was an American soldier, during the the American Civil War, Grant was the Commanding General of the United States that lead the army in the victory of the civil war before he assumed office. He was one of the pioneer for Congressional reconstruction during his time. During Grant administration there was a lot of stealing from the government, as well as corruption in various form and series of dishonesty. Grant died in 1885.
To resolve the dispute between free and slave states, each slave was counted as less than one free person for purposes of both taxation and representation.
