Gona is located in Ethiopia near the Awash River. The Oldowan tools which are the oldest known tools were found in Gona. Oldowan tools were used as choppers with heavy-duty scrapers and edged cores.

Oldowan tools were mostly used for primitive cutting and ancestors use them for hunting animals or cutting meat, cutting plants, or woodworking.
