Did the US join the League of Nations following WWI?
uysha [10]

The U.S did not join the League of Nations following WWI. Even the the President of the United States at that time, Woodrow Wilson, was enthusiastic about the organization, they didn't officially join it. The reason why they didn't join it was because of isolationists in congress, in other words, people that didn't agree with what other people are interested in. Because of the war and all of the fatal deaths of Americans, people didn't want the U.S to be affiliated with Europe in any way.

The source of morphine is the opium poppy, known by its botanical name as papaver somniferum. what does this mean in english?
Oliga [24]
Papaver means that it is a member of the Poppy genus when translated to English, while somniferum means "sleep-inducing". When translated from Latin to English, it basically means "the poppy that brings you sleep" or the "sleep inducing poppy", which is not that wrong considering that it is used to make opium.
