                The 13 colonies of the North America were originally British colonies. They were most popularly called as Thirteen American Colonies or the Thirteen British Colonies. These colonies were the group of British colonies that were situated on the Atlantic ocean coast of North America. These colonies were Delaware, Massachusetts Bay Colony, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Connecticut, Virginia, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Rhode Island, New York and Providence Plantations.

              These colonies declared themselves independence from the British rule in the year 1776 and together formed the United States of America. Some of these colonies were formed as the commercial ventures in regards to trade and commerce while some others are formed as a religious havens or places  and each of these colonies have their own written charter.
